cake class 2

One of the best Christmas presents I gave to myself is taking the Wilton Cake Decorating Method classes with my mom.  As a Wilton Ambassador, I had the opportunity to sign up for their classes and learn various techniques on cake decorating.

Whether you’re a novice or an experienced cake decorator who wants to just refresh your skills, these classes are great.  Conveniently available at your local Jo-Ann Fabric an Crafts Stores, you can sign up at any time throughtout the year.

Course 1 includes lessons on how to prepare buttercream icing to the perfect decorating consistency, how to fill and use a decorating bag, how to create six different icing flowers, pipe borders, lines and letters as essential decorations and transfer images onto a cake.

Course 2 includes lessons on how to design and create different color palettes and patterns for cakes, apply advanced buttercream techniques such as basketweave, cornelli lace and brush embroidery, and create seven different types of flowers and pipe different royal icing appliques and decorative borders.

The certified Wilton instructor was personable and patient.  She had the opportunity to work one-on-one with me to achieve designs I never dreamt of completing.

As part of the lessons, you will also receive the tools necessary to achieve all of these techniques that you can reuse time and time again on your future cake decorating projects.

If you are looking for the perfect present for someone who loves to bake but is intimidated by cake decorating (like I was!), have them try out these fun classes. Kids, just as much as adults, really enjoyed attending the class and learning everything it has to offer.
