I’ve been a fan of dairy all my life. I’m all about quesadillas, milkshakes, and bagels smothered in cream cheese. But lately, I’ve had to slow down a bit. I realized I was indulging in dairy foods way too much. I started to get that bloated feeling frequently. It brought me down and felt sluggish. I had to rethink my dairy intake quick.
Replacing regular mozzarella with Daiya Mozzarella Style Shreds on my homemade pizza was an easy transition. It’s one of my favorite vegan cheeses because it melts so naturally. I also had the opportunity to taste it at a Blaze Pizza event a few months ago. So if the pizza experts recommend it, I trust them 100%.
Since Daiya Cheese is vegan, I decided to go ahead and turn our monthly pizza night into a vegan event. All of the ingredients used are from Sprouts Farmers Markets. Some I had the opportunity to taste test them at the Sprouts Farmers Market Plant Based Getaway back in June and some were a completely new experience for me.
Daiya not only carries mozzarella style shreds. If you are a cheddar fan, you’re in luck. Pepperjack? Yep! Looking for sliced cheese? Daiya carries Smoked Gouda, Mozzarella, American, Cheddar, Swiss and Provolone style sliced cheeses and Jalapeño Havarti, Medium Cheddar, Monterey Jack and Smoked Gouda style cheese blocks. All our cheese bases are covered.

On my latest Sprouts Farmers Market trip, I stocked up on veggies for pizza toppings. This combination of roasted peppers, mushrooms, red onion and arugula are my favorite. Customize your own and have dinner ready in just under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 Rustic Crust Classic Sourdough Old World Flatbread
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 2/3 Cup Sprouts Farmers Market Marinara Pasta Sauce
- 1 cup Daiya Mozzarella Style Shreds
- 1/4 cup Sprouts Roasted Bell Pepper, sliced
- 10-12 red onion slices
- 1/4 cup arugula
- 4 cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
- sea salt to taste
- ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450° F.
- Remove crust from package. Lightly brush olive oil evenly on pizza crust.
- Spread marinara sauce evenly on crust. Top with Daiya Mozzarella Style Shreds, roasted bell pepper slices, onion slices, arugula and mushrooms. Sprinkle with oregano, salt and pepper.
- Lower oven temperature to 425°F. Place pizza directly on oven rack. Bake for approximately 8-12 minutes or until golden brown.
