When the weather gets warm, I like to dig into my bar cart and create a new signature cocktail my friends and I will enjoy for the spring and summer outdoor events. It makes its debut on Cinco de Mayo and continues through Independence Day and Labor Day. It has to be fruity and refreshing. I’ve been wanting to remake a cerveza del angel beer cocktail for quite a while and this was my chance.
The beer of choice for this cocktail is Corona Extra. Corona Extra has a smooth taste with fruit and honey undertones and a touch of malt needed to balance out the fruit pulp in this cocktail. With the crisp and clear flavor and the superior taste and profile, Corona Extra makes a great base for a refreshing fruit-filled beer cocktail.
Don’t get me wrong, who doesn’t love a cold Corona Extra when on vacation? It’s a given. But we can’t limit ourselves to enjoy this refreshing beer to vacation only. It’s readily available and ready to liven up your next get-together at home or a casual weekend gathering.
So gather all your ingredients, remember to make hibiscus concentrate ahead of time and celebrate by toasting to good times. Cheers!

Ingredients
- 3 ounces hibiscus concentrate*
- ¼ cup pineapple, chopped in small pieces
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 1 ounce pomegranate juice
- 1 ounce grenadine syrup
- ½ ounce orange juice
- 2 ounce Casa Noble Crystal Tequila
- ice
- 1 12 ounce Corona Extra®
Instructions
- Combine hibiscus concentrate, pineapple, pomegranate juice, grenadine syrup and orange juice in a cocktail shaker. Using a pestle, carefully crush mixture until a pulp forms. Add ice and tequila. Cover and shake vigorously.
- Pour mixture with ice half way into serving glasses. Fill the rest of the glass with Corona Extra®. Garnish with any remaining pulp and a pineapple leaf.
- Combine 4 cups of hibiscus flowers and 4 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and turn off heat after 4 minutes. Cover and let rest for 1 hour. Run concentrate through a strainer and into a sealable container. Store in refrigerator or freezer for later use.
