burrita 2When I pack my son’s lunch it’s either hit or miss.  Sometimes the lunchbox makes its way back to me in untouched form, and sometimes all I get back are crumbs, crumbled wrappers and a sticky banana peel.  Those are the good days.

This back to school, Sabra Hummus has come to my rescue once again in the form of pizza hummus.  How great is that?!  What kid doesn’t love pizza and hummus?  Now that same flavor of both kid favorites are available in individual 2-ounce servings.  I like to use it as a mayo substitute in sandwiches or serve it as-is with crackers, carrot and celery sticks.  Such a great snack.

Pizza Hummus Burritas

This time, I decided to make pizza buritas.  Not to be confused with burritos, burritas are a simpler form.  Burrito meets quesadilla if you catch my drift.  Burritas are made with a flour tortilla, stuffed with just a very thin layer of filling and folded, not rolled.  For my pizza burritas, I spread on Sabra Pizza Hummus and finished off the filling with a sprinkle of melting cheeze such as mozzarella or monterey jack.  I heated them on a skillet (or a comal), and folded them into little home-made pizza hummus pockets.

Easy to prepare, convenient to transport, serve and eat.  They can be assembled during the morning rush and by lunchtime, these pizza burritas will be the perfect temperature for the kiddos to enjoy. Lunchtime dilema solved!  Thank you, Sabra!
