No need to use the oven with complicated desserts. This classic twist on the original arroz con leche can be prepared by anyone who owns a large saucepan.
I used strawberry syrup to flavor and color the milk and added fresh strawberries for garnish and texture. It’s so tasty and pretty.
If you are not a fan of strawberries, leave the syrup and strawberries out. You can replace the strawberry syrup with chocolate syrup and now you have something special for chocolate lovers. It’s a very creamy and versatile recipe that could be customized to your liking or holiday.

Description
Give the classic arroz con leche a strawberry twist. Perfect as a Valentine’s Day or Spring dessert.
Ingredients
1 cup long grain rice
5 cups water, divided
1 4-inch cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
2 cups milk
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup strawberry syrup
1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
Instructions
Soak rice in 2 cups water for 20 minutes. Drain.
In a large saucepan, place 3 cups water and cinnamon stick and cloves over medium heat. Bring to boil and add rice. Continue to boil until most water has been absorbed and rice is tender but not dry.
Add milks and decrease heat to medium low and stir until mixture begins to simmer. Add sugar and strawberry syrup and continue to stir for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Mixture will thicken. Serve. Garnish with chopped strawberries.
