Refresh yourself this summer with Jarritos de Feria

What do you call them? Jarritos locos? Cantaritos de tequila? Jarritos de feria? I call them Jarritos de feria because I have only had this delicious tequila beverage at Mexican fairs. Nowhere else…. until now!

If you haven’t experienced a Mexican feria before, this is something you must add to things to do once social and gathering events are back.

Endless stands of street food, jewelry (lots of silver!) and beautiful Mexican arts and crafts. I frequented La Feria de Juarez in the summers and it was such a fun and unforgettable place to spend with family and friends. They had a section with games, rides and side shows as well as live entertainment and live music.

Their beer garden had many alcoholic beverages, but you were sure to find these tasty clay cups in all sizes. Filled with freshly squeezed orange juice, lime juice and grapefruit juice, these tasty cocktails packed a punch with your tequila blanco and a splash of grapefruit soda to tame it down a bit. Let’s not forget the ice.

This drink can be prepared in all types of clay containers. Clay pots, mugs and cups. But they taste just as delicious in any drink container. No worries.

Friday, July 24 is National Tequila Day and we are stuck at home. 2020 was supposed to be our year! No ferias anywhere in sight, so why not prepare a batch of this party favorite in the comfort of your own kitchen. Social distance and toast to better days ahead. Have a wonderful weekend my friends!
