Description

This avocado salsa might be creamy but it sure is the perfect fiery topping for your tacos. Spiced with serrano chiles with the texture of blended avocados, this salsa will always be a guest at your taco table. Make plenty, because it will go fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ tablespoon cooking oil
  • 4 serranos chiles, tops removed
  • 12 tomatillos, husks removed and rinsed
  • 1/4 piece white onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 large avocados (or 3 small)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro
  • ¾ cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large frying pan or skillet over medium heat. Add serranos, tomatillos, onion and garlic. When brown spots begin to appear on onion and garlic cloves, about 5 minutes, remove from pan and add to a blender. Continue frying serranos and tomatillos until char spots form on all sides and tomatillo color has darken. Transfer to blender.
  2. Add avocados, lime juice, salt, cilantro and water to blender. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a serving bowl. Serve.
