Ingredients for piloncillo syrup

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 (8 ounce) piloncillo cone
  • 1 (2-inch) orange peel
  • 2 Tadin Star Anise
  • 1 Tadin Cinnamon stick
  • 1 (1-inch) piece ginger

    Ingredients for tea:

  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 Tadin Ginger Blend tea bags
  • 12 tablespoons piloncillo syrup
  • Juice from ½ orange (about 3 tablespoons)
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1/2 -inch piece peeled ginger
  • 2-inch piece fresh orange peel

Instructions

  1. Combine piloncillo syrup ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until piloncillo dissolves; 8 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Remove cinnamon, star anise, orange peel and piece of ginger. Set aside.
  2. Steep tea bags in a tea pot with hot water for 7 minutes.
  3. Combine piloncillo syrup and orange juice in a teacup and fill with tea. Add lemon slice, piece of ginger and lemon slice. Twist a piece of orange peel over tea to release its oil then add peel to tea. Enjoy.
