Do you love Gansitos as much as I do? I’ve been obsessing over them so much lately. Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s comfort. Maybe it’s just a craving. Maybe they remind me of the time I used to sell all those Marinela products at my grandmother’s store in Mexico. Or I just want something chocolatey and creamy. Whatever the reason may be, I’m so glad we came up with this treat. Give it a try. Just like the pastry treat, this Gansito milkshake has creamy vanilla, chocolate bits and a hint of strawberry flavor in every sip.

It’s been quite a wile since we went out for a milk shake. My son and I decided to get really creative and whip up this indulgence. Don’t want to make your own whipped cream? Use store bought. No worries!
You can decorate with whatever you have in hand: chopped strawberries, nuts, chocolate sprinkles or curls or just have it plain and simple. The Gansito specturm of flavor will still be there. Decorating it is just for fun.
Gansitos are available in the pastry section of your supermarket or Latin market. You can buy them packaged in pairs or in a family size box of 8.

Description
Cholatey and creamy with a touch of strawberry. Just like the pastry treat!
Ingredients
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1tablespoon confectioners sugar
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
sprinkles of your choice
2 cups vanilla bean ice cream
1 tablespoon strawberry jam
1 cup low fat milk
4 Gansitos, chilled, divided
4 strawberries
Instructions
Place heavy whipping cream in a bowl of a stand mixer. Mix at high speed until soft peak forms. Add vanilla and confectioners sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form. Place bowl in refrigerator until whipped cream is ready to use.
Place chocolate morsels in a microwave safe shallow bowl. Melt morsels in 30 second intervals until chocolate is smooth and creamy. Dip rim of serving glasses in chocolate and immediately coat with sprinkles. Refrigerate to set.
Combine ice cream, strawberry jam, milk and 2 Gansitos in a blender container. Blend until thick and smooth. Spoon mixture into tall serving glasses. Slice remaining Gansitos in half and insert a wooden skewer through each half. Place skewer with Gansito half in each Milkshake to decorate. Top with whipped cream and a strawberry.
