This right here is a dream I had once. Creamy frozen pops filled with none other than my favorite Mexican pastry treat: Gansitos!

If you’ve ever had Gansitos, you know that its one hundred times better than a Twinkie. You know that you can put it in the freezer and turn it into a completely different dessert. And you know that the TV commercial captivated you with a baby waddling duck, sometimes in a chef’s hat or an itty bitty back pack. The camera closed up to its face and mouthed “recuerdame”. Oh, the memories!

I had to pay tribute to my most nostalgic dessert by adding them to a creamy milky mixture of tres leches and freezing them into something cool and amazing. Paletas de Gansito!

Visit your Latin grocery store and snatch some of these little treats to make your very own. They are perfect for this hot Labor Day Weekend and pretty much the entire year. Have a safe, happy and cool three-day-weekend!

Scale

1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 Gansito Pastries

Instructions

Combine milks and vanilla extract in a blender container.  Blend on medium speed for 7-10 seconds.

Slice Gansitos in thirds lengthwise.  Place 1 slice of Gansito in each mold, add milk mixture, cover and insert popsicle sticks.  Chill overnight or until firm.

Remove from mold by placing mold under warm water.  Remove cover and gently pull each stick to release.
