A Sweet and Spicy Summer Favorite: Honey Guajillo Pork Chops
One of the most satisfying things you can ever cook on your own is a barbecue sauce. I know, it’s a sauce that anyone can purchase bottled up and ready to use at the instant. But, when you make your own, you realize how simple and inexpensive it is. It’s like keeping a secret. A very delicious secret once you’ve perfected a recipe.
Well, I decided to let MY secret out and publicly list it. This recipe only deserved to be prepared with the best protein: pork chops! Did you know that ribs and chops are two pork cuts that are favored by Hispanics and African Americans over all other meat cuts? This study by the National Pork Board also concluded that shoppers statistically spend more money in-store when ribs and pork chops are in their basket; I know I certainly do. I want to pair them with a starch such as potatoes or rice and greens of course. Grilled asparagus, charred brussels sprouts or broccoli make a great barbecue pork companion.

This recipe is simple. Since pork does not require much seasoning and cooks quickly, you will have a full-on barbecue party at home with simple ingredients already in your kitchen. Pork is also available at an excellent price. That means, you don’t have to break the bank when you want to feed a large crowd; perfect for celebrations! Lean cuts such as these pork chops don’t need grease or added oils to cook quickly. Its flavorful juices keep the meat tender and delicious during the cooking process.
This recipe is just as delicious cooked indoors. If a grill is not available, a cast iron skillet works too! If you are not a fan of barbecue sauce, pork chops can simply be lightly seasoned and baked. Or you can also prepare them in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. That’s the beauty of pork. It’s so versatile that you can use any cooking method with quick and successful results. I consider it the perfect week-night family dinner.
So, get your grill ready, call your friends and celebrate the summer with a fun barbecue at home. You can find more cooking ideas and helpful tips at PorkEsSabor.com or follow along on social media at @PorkEsSabor on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and the hashtag #PorkEsSabor.
