Say hello to Summer with a Blackberry Hibiscus Fizz

If you are a fan of carbonated drinks but not a fan of the loads of sugar in them, I have the perfect drink for you. It’s fruity, tangy, fizzy and refreshing. It’s a blackberry hibiscus fizz.

Made with just a few Hibiscus blooms, blackberries, sparkling water and a hint of honey, this popular beverage  will be your Summer drink of choice.

Substitutions can be made. You can use your favorite berry instead blackberries or use agave syrup instead of honey.  You can also add more sweetener if you’d like.  It’s completely up to you and your preference. I’ve been sharing so many outdoor recipes lately to get everyone ready for Summer picnics and grilling, this recipe is no exception.  Make a large batch and see just how quickly this drink disappears.

Hibiscus can be found just about anywhere now.  If it’s not available in your local grocery store, look for it in the the dried chiles and spices section of your Latin markets.  They are packaged in large bags so you’ll have plenty for a cool agua de Jamaica to prepare at a later date.  Reserve your soaked hibiscus flowers, those are edible and make great garnishes in drinks. You can even make a delicious taco filling with them.  I’ll be sure to share that recipe soon!

Wishing you a cool and hydrated Summer!  This drink will do the job!
