The makers of one of our favorite salsas, taco sauce and enchilada sauce turned 100 this year and I was there to witness the celebration!  La Victoria® Brand , a Southern California based company, hosted a fabulous 8-course meal featuring the variety of flavors from the iconic brand.

The event took place in Santa Monica, California.  The perfect setting of sun, sand, ocean and kind folks looking over the famous Santa Monica Pier ferris wheel.

The brand announced the winner of their art contest, Lorraine Buber, who brought to life in art La Victoria® Brand’s philosophy of “Modern West Coast Lifestyle” through her creativity and talent. The contest was open to local Los Angeles Artists for the opportunity to win $7,500 if selected as first place winner, $1,500 as second place winner and $1,000 for third place winner.  Second place was awarded to Patrice Goldberg and third to Sofya Pushkarskaya.  Their beautiful works of art were on display in the carousel building during the festivities.

The tasty menu consisted of Mexican food by Chef Eduardo Ruiz of BLVD 745’s Chica’s Tacos in downtown Los Angeles and Public Beer and Wine Shop in Long Beach, CA.  Chef Ruiz is classically trained at Le Cordon Bleu and was a recipient of the Zagat Los Angeles 30 under 30. Recently named a semi-finalist in The James Beard Foundation’s “Rising Star Chef of the Year” award.

From enchiladas to barbacoa, fish tacos and blistered brussels sprouts, the menu showcased something for everyone. Made with La Victoria® Brand sauces, of course!  The sweet ending to this amazing meal was the most decadent Mexican chocolate pot de creme and a creamy tres leches cake cup.

The party doesn’t end in Los Angeles.La Victoria® Brand will continue to celebrate in San Francisco, CA and Portland, OR.  If you are a local artist in these participating cities, click here for more details on how you can also be part of the festivities.
