Now that my son is older, I am focusing on teaching him about gratitude. Thanksgiving is the perfect time of the year to start talking to him about being thankful. Since they touch the subject at school, I like to continue the lesson at home. It’s important to make him aware of those around him who help serve our community and why we should be thankful for their service.
My son is used to seeing everyone in the family together during the holidays. But he needs to realize that many people give up their Thanksgiving to volunteer or do their every day job in helping our community.
One of my favorite bakeries, La Brea Bakery wants you to nominate your favorite Thanksgiving hero this year. Whether it’s person who dedicates their time and effort as a firefighter, military personnel, policeman, serving others such as a kitchen staff or a volunteer at a mission or soup kitchen.
Do you know a special someone who works hard onThanksgiving to serve their community? Visit the La Brea Bakery Facebook page and nominate your Thanksgiving hero. Winners will be selected to have a catered Thanksgiving meal delivered directly to them. What a great surprise. Do it soon because submissions close November 15, 2015.
