When the holidays come around, I take some time to think about ways I could help out my community.  Whether it’s volunteering at a soup kitchen, organizing a food drive or even just donating a holiday meal during check out at my local grocery store, I always try to contribute.  No contribution is too small when it comes to helping my community.

But then, there are those outstanding citizens who sacrifice their time with their family during the holidays.  I call them heroes.  Many food military personnel, fire fighters and police officers work 24/7 to keep us safe.  Holidays are out of the question.

La Brea Bakery wants you  to nominate your favorite Thanksgiving hero this year.  Selected candidates will win the opportunity to have a Thanksgiving meal catered and delivered to them this year.  I am nominating my cousin Alma.  Alma was named top detective for LAPD for her hard work and dedication to the community.  Alma always puts her passion for her job first before anything else.  A true hero in my book.
