The holidays are upon us.  During this time, I like to reflect and think back on what made the year so special.  I review all the memorable moments and think about all the people I am thankful for having in my life.  People who have made a difference and people whom I’ve learned from.  Every year there is one person in particular that never fails to make that list: my mother.

Now that I’m a mother, myself, I finally understand the struggle one goes through as a parent, and I am so grateful my mother is there to listen to my worries and give me valuable advice I can apply to my everyday parenting situations.  I am so lucky to have someone who makes me feel like I’m doing good as a parent and helps me feel at ease with those little and big problems one encounters when they have children.  With just a simple chat with my mother, I realize that, during those parenting moments one feels alone in, I am not alone at all.

It’s not every day that I get to let her know what a great job she’s doing, as she continues to teach me and show me how to be the best parent I can be.  Thank you, Mom, for being there during those times I had to grow up quickly.  Thank you for being the greatest role model, and now, thank you for being the best grandmother.  I still continue to go to you in my time of need because your opinion and advice are gold to me.

Being thankful should be an everyday gesture, but unfortunately, life moves fast and we tend to forget or prioritize our to-do lists because of so many petty and tedious chores we must get through each day.

I wish you a season full of love and happiness.  Remember to thank someone you love today.
