Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival Is Back!
One of the best treats about living in Southern California is experiencing the wonders of spring. The weather gets a little warmer, the skies bluer and the colors of the season burst everywhere you look. The celebration is all around us including at Knott’s Berry Farm. This spring, the Boysenberry Festival is back at Knott’s Berry Farm and it’s better than ever.
The 16-day festival begins March 28, 2015 and celebrates the sweetness of the boysenberry in delicious food served throughout the park. Last year, I had the opportunity to experience the Berry Market™ Boysenberry BBQ Sauce on hot wings and it was out of this world. This year, the BBQ Sauce will be available for purchase at Berry Market General Store in Ghost Town (you can also find it at knotts.com). This tasty sauce has made its way to the top of my shopping list when I visit the park. Boysenberries will be everywhere, including in some of the new food items I can’t wait to try this year:
-Boysenberry Bites include fried cheese curds paired with a spicy boysenberry dipping sauce
-Fish and Chips Sandwich with boysenberry tartar sauce
-Boysenberry ICEE Floats
-Boysenberry Frappuccino and Latte
-and my favorite, Boysenberry BBQ Chicken Wings
The Boysenberry Festival is not a festival without entertainment and fun activities for the entire family. Visit the Bird Cage Theatre, just outside, the stage is set for daily contests including pie eating and Grandpa’s Boysenberry PJs Contest, where guests race to stuff the oversized long johns with balloons.
Live music includes Jammin’ in the Dark. A party hosted by DJ HowLY located in Charleston Fountain, where he will spin the hottest dance music for all ages. If you are more into Latin music, stop by Fiesta Village where you can practice your salsa moves and let loose on the dance floor.
“Bluegrass is my thing” you say? Well, the world famous bluegrass country music group, Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, will perform sets of their musical comedy show in the Bird Cage Theatre. (Performances run on select dates).
There is something for everyone at the Boysenberry Festival. Even wine connoisseurs. For a small tasting fee, enjoy an assortment of wine and craft beer at the Wine and Craft Brew Garden. Sounds like so much fun, right?
And of course, we can’t forget the man of the hour and his pals. Snoopy and the Peanuts gang will be in attendance and will perform for you in Party in the Park at Charleston Fountain. The fountain is the epitome of spring as it is adorned with colorful flowers and boysenberries, creating an iconic centerpiece for the celebration. The festive monument will serve as a dramatic backdrop for the Peanuts Gang to show off their dances moves in this highly interactive show that the entire family will enjoy.
Lucy’s Really Big Spring Show at Camp Snoopy Theatre, will showcase the Peanuts pals singing, dancing, and celebrating springtime. The theater will be filled with the sweet sound of little ones as they sing-along to the to the show’s cheerful tunes!
