Cafe con Miel
This is part of a sponsored collaboration with the California Milk Processor Board and Latina Mom Bloggers. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
Cafe con leche plays a big part in my home. Whether it’s the first beverage we enjoy in the morning, or a way to satisfy those sweet 3 o’clock cravings that sneak up on us on any unsuspecting day. Our coffee maker and milk frother are always on-call for any emergency and non-emergency situation.
This week, we are toasting to the talented Latin Grammy nominees who will be on pins and needles this Thursday, November 20 when the awards are presented in Las Vegas. No matter who the winner is, I will be celebrating with a nice cup of hot coffee, cozy, wrapped up in a warm blanket and plopped in front of the television set.
But we are not celebrating with any cafe con leche beverage this time. We are having a special Spanish Cafe con Miel coffee dessert to celebrate the 15th year of these prestigious awards. The perfect way to close out the evening. Customarily served as an after dinner drink, the sweet honey taste in this espresso drink with creamy and frothy milk is the perfect compliment to any big celebratory meal.
Using honey as the sweeter over warm, milk froth, this drink is comforting and well balanced. I like to drink it as is or enjoy it with a small piece of dark chocolate or pastries that are not too overly sweet.
Since The California Milk Processor’s Board is celebrating with the “Milk Fuels a Better Future” campaign, I found it appropriate to create a drink loaded with milk to compliment the success and the sound professional advice in the lives of the talented Latin Grammy nominees.
Cafe con Miel
Serves 2
Ingredients
1 cup strong hot coffee or espresso
1/2 cup non fat or 2% milk
2 tablespoons honey plus more for garnish
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Method
If you have a frother, froth the milk and divide in two separate mugs.*
Add cinnamon and carefully pour the hot espresso in each cup. Sweeten with honey and enjoy.
*To froth your milk without a frother, simply pour milk in a jar with a lid. Jar should be large enough for the milk to froth. Milk should fill no more than half way. Close jar with lid and shake vigorously until milk has doubled in size. About 1 minute.
Remove lid from jar, place jar in the microwave and heat for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave an pour milk and froth in mugs.
