Welcome the New Year with Chocolate Cream Volovanes with Berries
It’s time to welcome the New Year with something sweet, delicious. Something that won’t take too long to prepare in the kitchen. We’ve spent enough time cooking and baking these last few weeks that it’s time for a break.
Volovanes are fun little puff pastry vessels that can be filled with just about any sweet or savory filling. Because we want to end our year on a sweet note, I decided to fill them with chocolate cream.
The cream only takes a few minutes with a few ingredients. It includes heavy whipping cream, Imperial Sugar Confectioner’s sugar and cocoa powder. You can add vanilla, coconut, hazelnut or peppermint extract if you wish. It all depends on what your favorite chocolate combination is and what you have on hand. Top them with your favorite fruit. I choose seasonal berries to give them a colorful look. And a sprig of mint for freshness.
These volovanes can be served at your New Years gathering. They are beautiful, easy to handle and are effortless to prepare for any last minute gathering plans.
